Comparison of Two different Entrepreneurs

Everyone wants to be successful in the future. Some succeed and some fail. Education can guarantee your future. It plays a big role in succeeding life. Although education is needed in succeeding, it is still possible to be successful even though one did not finish his/her studies. Two successful entrepreneurs are Raymund Joseph Laurel and Leonardo Sarao.

Laurel and Sarao have significant differences. Joseph Laurel finished his studies in De La Salle University and went on to pursue further studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and Central St. Martins College in London while Leonardo Sarao only finished elementary. Even with insufficient knowledge, Sarao became successful and is now known as the “King of the Road” because of his invention, the famous ‘jeepney’. Mr. Laurel started his business with a capital of 20,000 pesos while Sarao only started with 700 pesos.

Despite all differences, they still have some significant similarities. Both of them worked hard to be where they are now. They never gave up in pursuing their dreams. Now, Raymund Joseph Laurel is the president and creative director of Rajo Laurel Enterprises while Leonardo Sarao’s ‘jeep’ is now being used all over the country.

In conclusion, education plays a big role in succeeding in life; However, with hard work, one can also succeed.

Life in Saudi Arabia Compare to Philippines

All countries in the world are unique. Living in a country different from one’s native culture could be very difficult. Although living in a country like Saudi Arabia is challenging, we should learn to enjoy that experience and treasure it. Even with cultural differences, there are still some similarities between Saudi Arabia and Philippines.

Although there are a lot of differences between Philippines and Saudi Arabia, they are also similar in some ways. First is the education in Philippines and Saudi Arabia are similar in terms of spending on education. Second, students are free to choose what school they will attend to. Both Philippines and Saudi Arabia have increased awareness on the value/importance of education to its people.

On the other hand, Philippines and Saudi Arabia’s culture is different in terms of freedom. It is impossible to go to a place or travel alone. The dress code is also completely different, girls should wear “abaya” to be able to go somewhere. The rights of women in Saudi Arabia are different compared to Philippines. Saudi Arabia is a very strict country while Philippines is a free country. Prices are lower in Saudi Arabia such as things like oil. One could save more money in Saudi which is why a lot of people choose to work here.

In conclusion, Philippines and Saudi Arabia have a lot of differences and is the opposite of one another. Even though living in a country different from one’s native country is difficult, one can use this opportunity to be able to learn something from this country.

Oedipus the King

The most important characters in the story are Oedipus, Iocasta and Creon. Oedipus is a brave man with strong will power because he was very persistent on finding the man who murdered the king of Thebes,  Laius. Iocasta is the queen of Thebes who is now the wife of Oedipus. She is a woman with a kind heart because she showed her willingness to help Oedipus seek the truth. Creon is a man with great determination to look for the murderer of the former king. He is a man that is loyal to his kingdom.

Oedipus is the husband of Iocasta and at the same time Iocasta’s son. He was adopted by King Polybus and Queen Merope of Corinth. Iocasta is the wife of Oedipus and former wife of Laius. Iocasta and Laius had a son that turned out to be Oedipus. She is also the sister of Creon.

“Oedipus the king” is mostly set on the kingdom of Thebes since Thebes is now the kingdom of Oedipus. This story is set on the ancient times where there are many kings and queens on different places instead of presidents.

The conflict of this story started when Apollo prophesied that Laius’ son would eventually kill him and would marry his wife. So they decided to kill their son. They sent him to a forest to be killed by one of their man. The man failed to accomplish his mission. When the child grew up he became the heir of Corinth. One of the problems he encountered was when a drunk man told him that he is adopted. Oedipus was determined to find the truth so he set out for a journey and left Corinth. There, he encountered a man in a carriage with knights surrounding him. The men were trying to stop Oedipus so Oedipus killed them all. Soon, he reached the city of Thebes. A man called Creon asked for his help to find the murderer of their king. Because of Oedipus’ determination to find the murderer, he went to Teiresias to seek for help but instead was accused of killing the king. They were arguing and Oedipus involved Creon in the argument. Creon and Oedipus had a fight as well. Soon, his wife Iocasta decided to help him.

The climax of this story is when Oedipus finally met the Theban shepherd that Iocasta ordered to kill her son. Oedipus found out the truth and was devastated to know that he killed his father and married his mother. The prophecy came true. Soon, Iocasta killed herself.

His problem with other people was solved when he found out the truth, but still he was very devastated specially when he found out that Iocasta killed herself.

If I could create another ending, I would rather see Iocasta alive and accepting her fate. It would have been nice that after everything that happened, they would still consider each other as family.

“Troy” will take you to the ancient times

Some people dream on experiencing the time when kings and queens are everywhere. A time were war is a symbol of success and bravery in a kingdom. If you are one of those people who would like to experience how life was before, then one should watch “Troy”. It would take you back to the ancient times with the help of a great cast, stunning effects and an awesome story line.

This movie is all about how the love of Paris for Helen turns into a tragic story. Paris (Orlando Bloom) fell in love with Helen (Diane Kruger), the face that launched a thousand ships. Helen is also the wife of King Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson). Paris sneaks out Helen from Sparta and took her to Troy. They get married soon. This became the beginning of a very tragic war. The main characters of the story are Achilles, Hector, Paris, Helen, King  Menelaus and Agamemnon.

The cast of this story did extremely well. Achilles is one of the most interesting character played by Brad Pitt. He did a good job delivery a very realistic acting. His fighting scenes were also great; However, Hector is the main star of this story. Eric Bana’s performance was simply breathtaking and amazing. He stole the spotlight from Brad Pitt. Eric Bana delivered his lines realistically and he conveys his emotion very well. Brian O’ Toole (King Priam) also delivered a stunning performance. He is a really great actor that can express emotions realistically. Brian Cox (Agamemnon) together with Brendan Gleeson (Menelaus) and Sean Bean (Odysseus) also performed well; However Helen wasn’t portrayed well by Diane Kruger. She did not convince me that she is a person that launched thousand ships. But then again, almost everyone did well so it’s still good.

This movie involves war scenes that is simply breath taking. I really like the effects used in this story. Everything seems realistic. The music of the movie also made the scenes dramatic. I love every detail of this movie. Even the costumes are great. The thing that I didn’t like in this movie is the love affair of Achilles and Briseis. I feel that the love affair is quite irrelevant and useless.

From this story, we can learn not to be impulsive in making decisions because it may turn out to be something tragic.

I would highly recommend this movie to people who loves epic stories. This movie is recommended for adults looking for action and adrenaline rush. This movie would be rated R because of the scenes that are too brutal for kids to watch.
